ABOUT THE CAVOODLE
Origin
The cavoodle is a hybrid of a cavalier king charles spaniel and a poodle (toy or miniature). They have become increasingly popular over the last 10 years. The aim of crossbreeding is to minimise the genetic diseases that can be present in purebred dogs. First-cross (first generation) cavoodles will have the maximum genetic benefits associated with a hybrid dog – in other words, a cavoodle with one parent purebred cavalier king charles spaniel and one parent purebred poodle will have less genetic diseases than second or third cross cavoodles (Cavoodle to Cavoodle).
Description
The cavoodle is a small dog that has a thick, soft coat that can be wavy fleece coat or curly. The muzzle is usually medium length and the eyes are large and brown. Despite being a crossbreed, the first generation Cavoodle is generally very true and consistent in type and being that it is a direct first cross - it benefits from hybrid vigour.
Size
Small, usually 5-9kg and approximately 25-35cm at the wither. A cavoodles size is very dependent on the size of the parents.

Colours
Coat
Medium length, fleece to wool coat and low - non shedding making it an excellent choice for allergy suffering families.
Grooming
Cavoodles usually do not shed and are often tolerated by allergic people. Their coats do need a certain level of care though, generally requiring professional grooming, as well as regular combing and brushing at home. The cavoodle should be taken to a groomer about every 6-8weeks for a clip of your choice. Their eyes should be cleaned regularly to prevent a build-up eye discharge and tear staining.
Temperament
The cavoodle is a lively and very affectionate companion. They enjoy being part of the family unit and love to participate in the activities of the day. Cavoodles have a very gentle nature and can make wonderful companions for children. They are highly intelligent and thrive on activities and training. They are also well known amongst trainers, to make great assistance/therapy dogs. They can adapt to living in a small home or apartment as long as they receive adequate daily exercise. Cavoodles can be good guard dogs as they may bark when visitors arrive, however they are not aggressive. They can be quite vocal and prone to separation anxiety, so early socialisation and training is a must.

Daily walks and regular trips to the dog park will keep help keep a cavoodle’s happy. They often enjoy socialising with other dogs and people, and love running off the lead at the beach!

Our waitlist is currently open to new applications. We currently are estimating up to 2 months for your pup to be born however please do let us know if you will be ready before this.

Once we have received your application we will review it and if you are successful to be offered a place on the list we will contact you via email with details of how to pay the $100 non-refundable administration fee. We will also send via Dropbox Sign, a waitlist agreement.
