Welcoming a new puppy into your life is a wonderful and exciting time. But it can also be overwhelming and many people feel unprepared for how difficult it can be in those early weeks and months. The key to a smooth transition is preparation and while here at Peppertree Lane, we try to prepare our puppy owners as much as we can, every owner has different life routines and different needs for settling a pup into their home.

 

The early weeks of having your pup home can be a make or break situation in terms of future routines and puppy behaviours.

It’s much easier to get good routines into place immediately as it prevents having bigger challenges later on.

 

Speaking with a good dog trainer before your puppy arrives is an excellent investment.

Susan from Gem Dog Training is a good friend of mine for the past 30 years. We worked together as Veterinary nurses in our 20s. She is an excellent, positive reinforcement focussed, well known and experienced dog and puppy trainer.

 

Wherever you live in Australia, Susan can offer you a 90 minute phone or video consultation call BEFORE your puppy arrives, to get you completely prepared for your pup’s arrival.

Once your puppy is home with you, Susan will also offer you WEEKLY personalised coaching sessions during your puppys first month, including practical training guides and handouts.

 

This support and training package is INCLUDED in the cost of your puppy.

 

She will cover ALL aspects of being prepared for welcoming your new baby into your home including:

* What equipment to buy to be prepared and what to hold off purchasing to begin with.

 

* Develop a toileting routine for your individual home layout and schedule.

 

* Develop a daily rhythm to suit your individual lifestyle.

 

* Plan a sleeping routine for your pup.

 

* How to prepare your puppy for having to spend time alone.

 

* Crate training

* Navigating the challenges of small children and puppies together.

* Overstimulated puppies, chewing and much more.
